Animals in Hot Vehicles...A Big No-No!

Happy Wednesday Coffee Drinkers!

Today's post doesn't have anything to do with coffee. Instead, I would like to write about something I have seen a lot of so far this Summer, and the season just begun. I know there are a lot of pet lovers out there who enjoy taking their fur babies for a ride in the car with them, but when doing so, please be careful of the heat and be sure your pets have plenty of air. I have seen dogs locked in cars with no or minimal air, as the windows are completely up.

Just 15 minutes in a hot vehicle with no air can cause the animal to have a heart stroke or even die. Dogs can only cool themselves down by panting or sweating through their paws, so if they are locked in a vehicle with no way for air, the outcome is deadly. Even with temperatures in the lower 70's, if the animal is in a vehicle with the windows up, it can quickly reach over 100 degrees. No one wants animals to suffer, it's very cruel to make an animal sustain such heat when it's not necessary.

Even if the owner of the pet leaves the windows down just a bit, there is not much of a difference in the heat levels. So, if you see an animal locked in a hot car with no way out, there are things you can do to help that animal to safety.

Write down the license plate number, along with the make and model of the vehicle. If possible, try to find the owners of the vehicle and inform them of the situation. If none of there options are available, you can call the non-emergency local police department number and ask for assistance.

Please treat your animals fairly and don't put them in unnecessary potential dangerous situations...

Until Next Time...♥

Working and 4th of July Plans :)

Good Tuesday Evening! How has everyone's week been so far? I have worked for the past several days, but luckily I have tomorrow off. So, my plan is to sleep in and not set my alarm clock tonight..woohoo!

The weather here has been extremely hot and muggy :( I have only had the chance to go swimming a few times so far this Summer, but I defiantly plan on hitting the lake again as soon as I can. I hope the hubby and I can go camping for the 4th of July coming up. I have the 4th and 5th off of work, so I would like to camp, swim and watch the fireworks!(That's the pan I'm hoping for anyway!)

Hope everyone has an amazing week!!

Busy Week and a Few Rude People

Hello there my fellow coffee lovers!

This has been quite a busy week for me so far, and it's not over yet! I have been working all week and finally have the day off tomorrow, so guess what??? I'm not setting my alarm clock tonight and I'm going to sleep in! (Woohoo!!)

I have plans tomorrow though, we are going to take two of my grandbabies to the water park. I know they are going to have fun and enjoy playing in the water! Right now though I can here my grandbaby Ryleigh talking in the other room, trying to keep herself from going to sleep! This has been a nightly thing, but typically normal for a 2 year old.

So, how has things been going for everyone else this week? For me, well there have been a few days this week when customers have cussed me out! You see, it's the law for me to check ID for alcohol and cigarettes, no matter your age. Well, there are some people who are very rude when I ask to see their ID. I know as an adult it can be aggrivating, but it's the law and it's my job to see an ID, I refuse to loose my job because someone won't show ID...so, No ID, No alcohol or cigarettes.

Well, I hope everyone has an amazing night and rest of the week!

Until Next Time...♥

What Makes Parents Special?

What Makes Parents Special?

Where would we be without our parents? Would we have taken a different path in our lives that could have led to a bad outcome? Without a parents guidance, there is no way to know how our lives would have turned out or the situations we would have had to face without their support.

From the day our parents were told that we were conceived, I can only imagine the joy and happiness they felt, especially our mother's who get to experience the feeling of us growing in her womb. I know our father's were just as excited, wondering if we were going to be a boy he could teach to play football, or a little girl who could melt his heart with one grin. Either way, I bet they were only hoping for a happy, healthy baby!

It's our parents that teach us from birth how to reach different milestones in life, from crawling, walking, talking, all the way up to driving a car. There is no doubt that a parent's job isn't easy, but I know it's a rewarding experience full of love and pride when we learn and accomplish the things they work so hard to teach us. It is our parents that mold us to be the people we are today, without them, there is no telling where we would be today.

As children, we look up to our parents and strive to learn all we can as they help us through the early years in life. However; as teenagers, we tend to distance ourselves from our parents and try to make our own decisions; whether good or bad. It is at this age we are seeing the world in a whole new light and we are tempted with so many things now available to us in the world. This is the time we need our parents the most. We need them to teach us the good, the bad and the ugly that is out there. Even though I know this is also the age that we tend to rebel and not listen to our loved ones, it is a very important time in our lives that mold us into adulthood.

Parents go through so many stages of emotion when raising children. From the newborn age to adulthood, there are many ranges of emotion such as joy, happiness, worry, fear, love, heartache and so on. But through it all our parents love us and do their very best to help and be there when we need them. Just because we are grown doesn't mean we don't need our parents, we will always need them, no matter what!

So, if you ask me why are parents special? My answer would be because they give us unconditional love from the time we are born. They do their best to raise us to be upstanding adults and even though we may not realize it, if we didn't have our parents, we would be heartbroken, lost and confused. So, the next time you see your parents, be sure to hug them and let them know how much you love and appreciate them.

Summer Sun Safety Tips: Avoid the Burn!

With Summer time upon us, there are going to be millions of people spending adequate time outdoors at the lake, beach or pool. Even though it feels good to lay out and spend time in the sun, there is the danger of sunburn. Sunburn can cause many different problems, not to mention, hurt terribly. Let's take a look at some tips we can follow to keep ourselves from suffering from pain and possible other health risks.

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m are times when it is the hottest, try to avoid being outdoors for long periods of time during those hours.
  • Be sure to use sunscreen and reapply it every 2 hours.
  • If you wear sunglasses, please be sure to purchase those that offer total UV protection.
  • Keep Children ages 6 months or younger out of the heat and sun.
  • Find shade and relax for periods of time.
  • Remember, even if it is a cloudy day, sunburn can still occur. Always use sunscreen!
I hope everyone has an amazing Summer and enjoys their time swimming and other outdoor activities.  Please practice these safety tips and have a great Summer season! And most importantly, when you are swimming with children, rather it be at a pool, lake or beach, always have adult supervision. It's always better to be safe than sorry!
